Background: |

First Health was in need of qualified individuals for their corporate IT department. As a leader in group health, workers' compensation and government markets, their systems group is critical to the company’s operations.
Our client had two different, but equally critical needs. One was for an experienced Visual Basic developer with solid data base experience who could function as a Project Leader on various projects and still make contributions to systems design and programming efforts. The second position required unique skills that included a background in Unix administration, but was focused on the BEA Tuxedo middleware product. Personalities as well as technical skills were important to the managers for whom these people would be working.

The Success Story:
Once receiving the assignment, AD/S immediately began to search our resume files, on-line resources and we contacted affiliated search firms. After narrowing the candidate pool to the five most qualified applicants, in depth interviews were conducted to ensure that the candidate’s backgrounds accurately met the qualifications. We addressed issues such as style of work, attitude and approach to problem situations. We were also concerned with how the candidates interfaced with peers, management, subordinates and end users.
When the field was narrowed to the two most qualified individuals for each position, those resumes were forwarded to the hiring authority. After the company had conducted face-to-face interviews and made the selection of their top candidates, AD/S conducted in depth reference checks on both individuals. When the reference checks were completed they were forwarded to the client manager. AD/S was instrumental in determining the market value for each position and negotiating the start date with the two selected candidates.
AD/S then assisted the candidates with proper resignation protocol and ensured that both candidates would be on time for their first day of work. Both individuals started within one day of each other and the entire process was completed within six weeks.
